Old Dominion University (ODU) is a dynamic metropolitan, residential, and research-extensive public institution with a student enrollment of 23,494, including approximately 5,000 graduate students, and a full-time equivalent faculty of over 720 of which 40% are female. ODU is a vibrant, collegial university committed to serving the region and the nation through its leadership preparation programs, research, service, and community engagement.
The University’s primary campus is located in Norfolk, VA, one of the seven cities that make up the historic Hampton Roads region of Virginia, a major recreation area with a population of 1.7 million. Programs are also offered at three Higher Education Centers in the region and at Distant Learning sites across the state and across the nation. The University offers joint programs with Eastern Virginia Medical School and is home to several nationally recognized Research Institutes and Centers of Excellence, including: the Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics; the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center; The Center for Educational Partnerships; and the Center for Accelerator Science collaboration with the Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The main campus is only a 40-minute drive from Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Coast.
