Her research interests show her commitment to bilingual education, bilingual teachers and English-language learners. Her widely used book, “Bilingual Education: Teachers’ Narratives,” documents eight bilingual teachers’ experiences in different programs, regions and languages. Her other research interests address the complexities of bilingual teaching through collaborative teacher research studies, the relationship of teacher certification to classroom practice and the assessment of English language learners using electronic portfolios. Recent research extends to the integration of technology for bilingual and TESOL teachers and comparisons between face-to-face and online teaching, and describing innovative synchronous teaching of weekly videoconferencing class sessions.
