Dr. Mistretta's research interests are in higher education public policy and college choice, particularly as it affects first generation, low SES, and minority students. She is particularly interested in the proliferation of Promise-type scholarship programs, both at the state and local levels. In addition, Dr. Mistretta conducts research on how emerging and new professionals experience compassion fatigue as a result of working with clients and students who have experienced trauma. She is most interested in using this research to establish best practices for addressing this issue within the classroom and faculty supervision of students in fieldwork.
