Expertise: Katey's research focus includes transition to school and cultural diversity: 1) Addressing transition to school from a community perspective; engaging schools, prior to school services and community agencies in the process. 2) Identifying the importance of parent staff relationships to ensure cultural practices are respected in the early years. More recently Katey has been engaging in practitioner enquiry research, shifting the focus to teachers' practices as key in outcomes for children and families within local communities.
