Professor Andreas Kazamias' area of concentration in the Department is Comparative Education. His main interests are in historical and comparative studies of the role of education in national development and modernization, politics and ideology in education, and educational reform and cultures. He teaches courses and seminars in comparative education, theory and method in comparative education, education and the state, the politics of educational reform and education in the new Europe. In his current research he is examining the various national trajectories of the enlightenment/modernity project in European "paideia" and education.
