Dr. Alverson's research interests include secondary transition and post-school outcomes, transition for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability/development disabilities, and data use to improve in-school secondary special education programming. She is currently co-PI on the STEPSS PD Project, an IES Goal 2 grant to empirically develop and test a professional development (PD) intervention training district Data Teams to use data-based decision making (DBDM) to develop, implement, and evaluate action plans based on evidence-based practices and predictors of post-school success to improve students’ secondary transition skills. She PI on a College of Education grant focused on investigating transition program factors that contribute to the success of young adults with autism spectrum disorders in postsecondary education settings.
