My research focuses on resilience, adaptation and well-being across the life-span. My work is with people and families of color with particular attention to indigenous groups. I have also conducted research and published on cultural identity development, family resilience and recovery, stress and coping processes among multiracial families, discrimination and health outcomes. I am currently the principal investigator on the Kauai Longitudinal Study examining resilience, adaptation and well-being among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from prenatal/birth to middle and older adulthood. I also serve as the Executive Director of the Resilience, Adaptation and Well-Being Project where I oversee 28 measures on stress, coping and resilience that have been used with people of color, families with children with chronic illnesses and disabilities and internationally.
