The School of Education at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the 2017-2018 academic year. The School seeks a faculty member interested in joining with a collaborative, committed research community focused on excellence in educator preparation and adult learners. We welcome candidates whose scholarship focuses on issues critical to the development of high quality teachers, successful classroom practices, and a culture that promotes student learning and equal opportunity. Teaching courses in social foundations, educational psychology and/or research methodology with a heavy focus on quantitative skills. Teaching and advisement is expected at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. It is expected that candidates will have a strong record of published scholarship or potential for developing such a record, while also being able to pursue interdisciplinary research and seek external funding opportunities. As the School of Education recently joined with the School of Professional and Continuing Studies to create the Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Education and Professional Studies, the new faculty member would have their tenure and teaching home be in the School of Education but have a joint appointment in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies to allow opportunities to work collaboratively across both schools for research and outreach capacities.
